The stories by Boccaccio, illustrated with 26 full-page sketches using black ink especially created for this issue by Marc Chagall, accompany the twenty-six colored Flemish style tipped-in miniatures of a manuscript guarded in the library of Arsenal. The twenty-six miniatures are from the Tales in Decameron (1348-1358), the best known work of Italian author Giovanni Boccaccio (1313-1375). Verve Christmas issue 1950. Text in French. Dustjacket in disarray, detached at front flap and spine with some chipping along edges, original lithograph intact. Back board loose but present.
