Folio. 32, XCIXpp. Maroon cloth with gold lettering on front board and spine in original illustrated dust jacket. Paper covered maroon cloth slipcase. A detailed catalogue of the paintings owned by Bernard Berenson and displayed in his estate, “I Tatti.” A collector of Renaissance paintings in the early 1900s, his affluence and knowledge of the subject earned him the role as advisor and authenticator to many American collectors such as Isabella Stewart Gardner. He wrote several books on the subject including Venetian Painters of the Renaissance (1894). Profusely illustrated with 99 full page color and 3 b&w reproductions of paintings, each with author’s quote about piece, text, and bibliography. Published under the auspices of the Italian commission for UNESCO. Two small closed tears to front top, and bottom rear of dj, shelf wear. Minor scuffing to slipcase.
