A documentation of the rebuilt city, accomplished under socialist reign after W.W.II, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the liberation from Nazi Germany. Profusely illustrated with b/w photographs, some in color, of various sites of the destroyed city after the war juxtaposed with the same, rebuilt location in the city in 1970. The photographs show public buildings as well as residential areas, some of them restored to their original splendor, others replaced by modern architecture. Poznan, one of the oldest cities of Poland, served briefly as the Polish capitol in the 13th century. The founders of the Polish state, Mieszko and Boleslaw Chrobry, rest in its reconstructed Cathedral of Poznan. Text in Polish, English and Germany. Some wear along edges of dustjacket with small tears, chips and light creasing. Binding and endpapers with some foxing, also pages 10 and 11. Pages 3-10 uncut at top.
