Two green and white cardboard portfolios with black lettering on the front, each housing 12 loose plates measuring approximately 21×15″. Each volume contains 2 preliminary plates of a table of contents and introduction in Chinese and English, followed by 10 plates of images. Plate #8 from the third volume is missing. The prints are high quality offset reproductions in b/w, of painting by four acclaimed Buddhist monk painters of the Ming period, Bada Shanren (1626-1705), Shih-t’ao (1642-1707), Shih-ch’i (1612-1692), and Chien-chiang aka Hong Ren (1610-1664). Vol.1 has one of the plates in color. These two volumes contain a total of 19 plates of images. Text in Chinese and English. Portfolios with some small writing on black ink on the front covers. Portfolio of vol.1 sunned. Library bookplates and stickers on the inside flaps of the portfolio. Some light writing on pencil and library stamps to the backs of many of the plates. Images unaffected and vibrant. Portfolios in good to very good, interiors in very good to very good+ condition overall. g to vg+. Softcover. (41267) $65
