The author collected evidence of the 18th century Jewish settlement and describes the establishment of the 19th century community and its trading patterns. In W.W.II, the community was transformed by the arrival of German refugees. Later chapters tell of the development of the remains of the wartime community into its present form of mixed businesses and professional community. Illustrated with one full-page b/w map.
