Teresa de Cepeda and Ahumada (aka Santa Teresa de Jesus or simply Santa Teresa de Avila1515 – 1582) was a nun, mystical and Spanish writer, founder of the Displaced Carmelites, an arm of the Order of Our Lady Mount Caramel (or Carmelites). She was a reformer of the Carmelite order of Catholic Monasticism, in the sense of returning to the strict rules of poverty.
