Academic reciprocation to a work by Paul de Lagarde on Jewish Education. Written by renowned Jewish-Austrian scholar David Kaufmann (1852–1899). Kaufmann started studying at the Jewish Theological Seminary in Breslau for 10 years, starting in 1867. He received his PhD in 1874 and his Rabbinic ordination in 1877. Declining an offer of a teaching position for the Cincinnati branch of JTS, he accepted the chairs of history, homiletics and philosophy of religion at the newly founded rabbinical school at Budapest, which he continued to hold until his death. Serious age wear to binding, with rear wrapper missing and creasing and tears to detached but present front wrapper. Browning throughout, with pages brittle. In German. Poor condition. poor.
