Reprinted from “The China Journal,” Vol. VIII, No. 6, June, 1928, pp. 303-312 and Vol. IX, No. 1, July, 1928, pp. 14-23. Alphonse Marie Tracey Woodward was famous as a collector of Japanese stamps. He expanded his collecting into coins when he moved to China in 1916. He became well-known by publishing articles in “The China Journal.” In 1936, the articles were combined in “The Minted 10 Cash Coins of China.” Eight years earlier he also wrote a key work on Japanese stamps entitled “The Postage Stamps of Japan and Dependencies.” This work contains impressions by Woodward on his journey through (mainly) Iran in 1925/25. Illustrated with b/w reproductions of photographs. Minor age wear and creasing on wraps. Head and tail of spine slightly chipped. Sporadic foxing throughout. Overall good condition. Softcover.
