Contemporary reprint of the author’s work that was first published in 1687. It became an instant bestseller after its original publication, was translated into German, English and Dutch and reissued several times during the eighteenth century. In the book, the main character is imprisoned for denying the validity of baptism and blasphemy. The story had an enormous influence on subsequent authors, including Voltaire. Text in French.
