Illustrated with five photographic plates, including one in full color, this remarkable work examines the origin, manufacture and use of fans in Japan. The fans are divided into two general classifications, the round fan (uchiwa) and the closing fan (ogi or sensu). Wrappers slightly age-toned along edges. Fore-edge of back cover water-stained, thus affecting the colophon page, the fore-edge of the very last leaves, and the lower margin of plates (not affecting text or images).
