The original drawings were made from the Indians encountered by Josephine Wood at fairs, market and on the streets of Guatemala City and surrounding villages during her eighteen months’ stay in the country. The elaborate descriptions facing the intricate costumes provided by Lilly de Jongh Osborne. The folding map of Guatemala indicates the geographical origins of the respective costumes.
