Original purple cloth boards with blind stamped designs on the covers and gilt lettering on the spine. The publication is the sixth edition of the acclaimed poem by Tennyson. The poem serves as a memorial tribute to the deceased poet Arthur Henry Hallam, a close friend of Tennyson, and is written in iambic tetrameter. Publisher’s ads dated “October 1854”. Binding with some sunning to the spine and bit along the top edge of the covers. Corners with minor bumping and rubbing. Interior with the name of the previous owner in ink at the top of the first page of advertisements. Previous bookseller’s sticker at the bottom right corner of the interior front cover.
