Though published with the approval of the military government in 1948 in Germany and stated to be the first edition, the beautifully color illustrated story was published first in 1908 by the same publisher who published all books of this German book illustrator and caricaturist. He was considered one of the best illustrators of the magazine Die Jugend. Text in German. Binding rubbed with some wear along edges and rubbed. Remnants of removed tape on endpapers holding the block to the cover. Block and double pages are loose. Block lightly age-toned. Binding and interior in overall good- condition. g-. Hardcover.
