Includes b/w photo-illustrated report of the proceedings of the 20th session of the Academie Diplomatique Internationale in Rome. Illustrated throughout with b/w photographs of its members and procedings, including fold-out with individual portrait photographs and biographies of its founders, S.E.M. le Vicomte de Fontenay, S.E.M. Gaston Doumet , S.E.M. Adatci, S..E.M. Guerrero, S.E.M. Titulesco and S.E.M. Frangulis. Among the members shown is renowned French diplomat Francois Marie Denis Georges-Picot (1870-1951), who signed the historic Sykes-Picot Agreement during World War I, dividing up the Ottoman Empire in British and French (later also Italian and Russian) colonies. Staining and age wear to wrappers, with creasing, closed tears and some parts missing at rear. Interior disbound but complete. Minor creasing and closed tears to interior. Otherwise clean. In French. The Académie Diplomatique Internationale (ADI) was founded in 1926 as one of the world’s first independent institutions dedicated to the promotion of global dialogue and respect for international laws and norms. In 1928, the ADI drafted the world’s first petition for a formal global human rights declaration, and later published the landmark Dictionaire Diplomatique. The Académie is being revitalized today as a center for advancing principled and effective diplomacy in government, business and civil society. The ADI is situated in its elegantly appointed historic residence in central Paris which serves as the center for the ADI’s administrative and programmatic activities. (20136) $75
